Charutar Arogya Mandal has 40 general wards in the hospital with a total of 600 beds. On an average, patients stay in the hospital for four days. The patients are provided with breakfast, lunch, tea with snacks and dinner. Breakfast is served between 7:00 -7:30 a.m. This consists of Tea or Milk and one of idli sambhar, poha or dhokla. Lunch is served between 12:00 -12:30 p.m. This consists of salad, chapattis, seasonal vegetables, dal and rice. The patients are provided a cup of tea or milk between 3:00-3:30 p.m. with a snack and dinner between 7:00-7:30 p.m. It consists of Chapattis, Kadhi, Khichadi, seasonal vegetables and a cup of milk. The meals are prepared on the hospital premises and care is taken to ensure that patients are given nutritious food to help them recover faster. Mandal provides a complete 4 course diet to these patients. The highly nutritious diet helps them recuperate fast from the disease they have faced during their illness. The diet department provides the patients with specialized diet as advised by the physicians of the concern department for such patients e.g.: protein rich diet, iron rich diet, fluid diet etc. They receive 2 meals from the hospital which their families may not be able to manage at this crucial stage. The patients are fed well; it helps them to recover fast. Diet is very important component of the complete treatment of the patients. Providing proper and timely diet to such poor patients helps them regain their health. One day meal charges (breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner) per patient for BPL patients admitted in General Ward Break fast & Tea – Rs. 50 Lunch – Rs. 100 Tea and snacks – Rs. 50 Dinner – Rs. 75 Total – Rs. 275 per patient
